Hospice of Spokane provides individual grief counseling for anyone in the community who has experienced loss through the death of someone close to them.  Professional counselors specially trained in grief and loss issues help individuals identify and attend to their unique grieving needs.

Family Support Services
Staff and volunteer support for families/survivors of hospice clients; direct mail information regarding the grief process for one year following the death of a client; annual memorial service; holiday support gathering.

Grief Support Group
The groups provide a safe place to share one's pain with others who are grieving. Within the groups, each is encouraged to express feelings openly and to give and receive support. Groups meet weekly at Hospice of Spokane.

Individual Grief Counseling
Grief and bereavement are normal experiences following the loss of someone close. Grief is the highly personal response to loss; bereavement is the extended period of adjustment. Grieving often begins before an anticipated loss or may be delayed for a considerable time. Grief may appear as an emotional and/or physical distress requiring assistance and support.

Organizational Grief Counseling
In order to support the well being of employees in the workplace, Hospice of Spokane professional staff provides consultation and counseling to businesses and organizations and their employees who are experiencing an anticipated loss or have experienced the death of a co-worker.  Consultation is provided on-site as needed or requested by the business.

Likewise, children who suffer the loss of a classmate or teacher may experience intense feelings of grief.  Hospice of Spokane provides counseling and intervention therapy in school settings for children, faculty and parents.
