What is Palliative Care

Through a joint project with Washington State University and Hospice of Spokane, a short video about Palliative Care has been developed for patients and families.  We invite you to click on the three-minute video to learn more and complete the short survey by clicking here.

Palliative care is appropriate at any stage in a life-limiting illness and can be provided together with curative treatment. Palliative care can help if:

  • You would like more care and support for your life-limiting illness.
  • You need help managing pain and symptoms to make life better.
  • You have been in and out of the hospital with increasing frequency.
  • Your illness is creating stress for you and your family.

Help for any life-limiting illness
Palliative care helps people with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, lung disease, kidney disease, heart conditions, dementia and a wide variety of other illnesses.
